Good call, never thought of that. I just naturally wanted to match it up with the 18 up front, but damn, it ends up the same size because I'm running a nice and tall Avon 90 on the 16" in back. SO really, no drawbacks that I can see doing what you said.

Also keep in mind that if you would like to see how it looks prior to paying for powder coating, you could spend a day painting it yourself. You can just remove the wheel, mask off the tire, scuff the wheel with maroon scotch brite, then hit it with spray can primer & black paint. It will hold up fine for a while. Then if you like, you can PC it whenever it's convenient. I shot a friends spoke wheels last February and they still look perfect.

Another effective option to powder coating could be Plasti Dip. You don't even need to sand or scuff the wheel. It's very durable and can later be peeled off if you like.
