Default 1995 ultra amplifier problem

My 1995 Ultra Classic has an amplifier under the tour pak. It powers the rear speakers and the cb. When my radios on, and i activate the brakes (front or rear or both), the radio cuts out, then comes back on. If i disconnect the amplifier, this problem goes away. However, the rear speakers and the cb do not work when the amps disconnected. This leads me to believe that the amp may need to be replaced. Has anyone ever heard of this before or have any idea where to get a new amp? THX

First hook up a multi-meter to the power wire going to the radio and check to see if the power is still there when the brakes are applied. If you still have power your problem could be in the CB, something is tricking the radio into thinking the CB button is being depressed. When the button is depressed it turns the volume off on the radio. So check the wiring coming from the CB push to talk button and make sure it isn't shorting out somewhere along it's length. Hope this helps.

On my '95 Ultra, the CB's box was located under the tour-pak.

Is this an aftermarket AMP, and where is the CB box located ?

My cb is also located under the tour pack, but the cb box also seems to have a built-in amp cuz it powers the rear speakers. What i failed to mention in my original post was that this problem ONLY occurs at low idle, such as sitting at a red lite. or if the bike is not running and i have the radio on. At higher rpm, apx >1500, there is no problem.

Also, if i remove the fuse for cb located behind side panel, the problem goes away, but only front speakers work

The amplifier is in the console on 95,96 Ultra. Sounds like the DIN connector under the seat is corroded and voltage drop is killing it at idle because the voltage is already low in that condition.

Responded to another thread about this today . Seems the amp. feed might be on the brake circuit .
As advised , check and clean the din. plug .
The amp. is for the rear spkrs. only .
Check for brake circuit short.

That is the one. Under the seat right behind the tank.
