What is the best way to clean and oil the filter with out having oil running down the air cleaner and on to the motor thanks

 

Buy the correct recharge kit and get the one that has the oil in an aerosol, rather than a squirt bottle....just spray enough to make it pink.

Use the cleaning fluid as per instructions and let it dry thoroughly before oiling.

 

I do have the kit But I remember that i had to let it sit for some time to let it soak up. it has been a long time since i did it being that I remember a mess thanks

 

If it's dripping oil off the filter, you're over-oiling it. Use a bit less oil next time.

 

Too much oil will coat the intake air sensor if it's fuel injected and make the bike run funny

 

Having oiled it set it aside on some old newspaper over night, somewhere it won't mess nice stuff like carpets!
