Sounds like you have dirt in the float needle, or the needle is otherwise sticking and not closing, causing the fuel level in the float bowl to be too high. That will cause a rich mixture. Check the float needle for leakage/dirt/wear or anything that is causing the needle to stick.
Clean/replace the needle, we just had a Mikuni in the shop with the carb running over. Inspected the needle and it looked fine, but still ran over. Replaced it and all was well.

Ok, I pulled the carb apart ,pulled out the float needle and cleaned and inspected it. Blew compressed air thoughout the whaole thing. Put everything back together and took for a small ride up and down the street. Seems to be good again, but might be a little on the rich side still. I will keep an eye on it. Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated!!
When the intake was loose your bike was running in a real lean condition.
When you fixed he intake you now have to re-jet/adjust the carb as you no longer have the lean condition.
This makes no sense, if the carb bolts became loose, the carb would not have re-jetted itself to adjust to the lean condition...
1sandking1: consider changing all your fuel lines while you are at it, they could be deteriorating.

Also .. if your getting the black fluffy carbon on both plugs ., suggest you go to new style irridium plugs and or check for a weak ign. coil .
Check coil by removing plugs , ground plug you are not testing , use a cheap plug tester at night and in the dark , spark should be white and bright , if blueish and weak , replace coil.
Ok, we took our ride this weekend (under 100 miles), bike ran good, but has a huge flat spot mid throttle and unfortnately its cruising speed on the freeway about 65-70 mph. Had this problem when I first got the bike, rejetted to larger jets and it fixed it. Now I need to rejet again, seems odd, but it cant be anything else at this point.
