Yes it works. Thank you very much.
The final thing is there is a small clip just below the fingers the clips on to the shaft ( see picture) Does it matter which way this clip goes on or have I got it in upside down?
Does it need to line up with anything?
There is a groove right around the bottom of the shaft but the one thing I do remember when I took it apart was the clip was not in the groove but around the shaft just above the groove.
I am not sure if that was the way is was put on originally or it may have come loose and worked itself up over the years. I think because there is a groove on the bottom of the shaft then you would think its there for the clip??
I am not sure if there should be a bushing on the clutch release shaft in between the finger and the clip? There was nothing there when I took it apart.
Clip looks stuffed anyway and if you can see the groove the clip should be in it.
On the end of the pushrod (the end showing in your pic) it should go clip, washer, radial roller bearing, washer so that rollers only ever run on the washers and the fingers push on the outside face of the outer washer.
Ronnie's is one of the few online sources of H-D exploded diagrams....not always all that clear unless you know what you are looking at but you'll find it will help you a lot.
Yes the diagram sure helps a lot, its a great reference site. Whilst I have it apart I will replace the whole pushrod assembly (I am sure there are kits available) and will replace the clip with a new circlip on the clutch release lever shaft
Thanks for taking the time to help me out. Really appreciate it.
My 86, wish I had known u wanted a chrome side I just updated to the newer style... Last time something went wrong, the fork got chewed up by the disapearance of the bearing and washers, my correct clip under the fork? was a snap ring?, not one of the newer style clips like u have shown. Parts guy luckily was a evo fan and said no, he looked it up on the microfiche gave me right one for 50 cents
