Chuck, you've lost me there! Are you saying you tried to fit an RK windshield? I can well imagine it may not fit round our beautiful instruments, but it seems a giant leap to suggest an aftermarket RK batwing can't. There are several brands out there and it is worth Ironnads contacting them to see if there is any hope!
I tried to use the RK brackets, the screen wasnt even close. The problem with the aftermarket RK fairings is that they are also designed for the RK nacelle, not our guage pod. They can most likely be cut/modified to clear the guage pod. You can make RK brackets fit our bikes, I've done it.
I was in the proccess of working out the details when the Tour Glide fairing fell into my lap...........so I went that way, it was easier and more to my likeing.
The old Tour Glide fairing would bolt right on. They came with the Factory radio caddy in 1986, but years ago I added the caddy to an '81 that I had. These fairing used to be dirt cheap, but now because they look similiar to a Road Glide, some people want a mint for them.
while on the subject of old baggers--------------how many have done away with the ugly tank setup that has the 1/2 inch sheet metal flange around th outside edge like a 86 would have???.What works the best and has a more classic look along with a better dash setup.A buddy bought one and I dont remember them being that ugly and neither does he
89 was the first year that the gas tank was updated and closley resembles the current tanks. Pick up and 89 to mid 90's tank and it should bolt up with little to no mods needed.
