I've got an old 84 Electra Glide strippped to the bones out in my garage right now for paint and overhaul. It still has the stock speedo/tach attached to the forks/handle bars. Does anyone know of a fairing that will work with this setup that has a stereo. I really don't want to change the instruments and fuel tank. I also don't want to go with a handle bar speaker kit.
One suggestion I can think of is a shovel glass-fibre batwing, however you are looking for older secondhand stuff. Later models had a radio mounted in them, although if you had the basic fairing like mine it should be possible to fabricate a suitable mounting.
There are aftermarket batwings that get mentioned occasionally over in Touring, for RKs. Memphis Shades do one, another is Woodys Fairings. I'm not sure if either of them make suitable mountings, but those for an RK will probably do.
check out Hoppe Industries. They make the best i've seen. I'm adapting one to my Shovel bagger project. Their Quadsilla fairing is the width of a stock late model unit
The aftermarket Road King fairings WILL NOT fit, I tried to get a RK windshield to fit on mine. There isnt enough clearance for our guage pod. You might be able to get one of the fairings to fit, but it will take ALOT of modification for the guage pod.

Chuck, you've lost me there! Are you saying you tried to fit an RK windshield? I can well imagine it may not fit round our beautiful instruments, but it seems a giant leap to suggest an aftermarket RK batwing can't. There are several brands out there and it is worth Ironnads contacting them to see if there is any hope!
This is one of the projects I have been thinking about as well (the winters can be long sometimes and still not even sure if I will use a radio). I have checked into a late model style and although it can be done it would put me out of beer for some time. I have also run into several 86 and later some with radios on a site here called Kijiji around the $400 dollar range here is a link http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ414781527
although this would be the easiest and probably in the long run I think I am going to mock up a inner like the one on Tom's I have seen a few that look something like this (would attach pics but cant figure that out).
Cheers
