OK almost sold. If Spanners39 says he agrees with extra effort then it shall be done.
Doesn't Autozone loan these tools?
autozone will loan you the blind-hole puller
but you'll have to buy the tool to install the cam bearing... others will tell you to use a few clever ways to just 'pound' it into the case, but i wouldn't recommend that
if you'd like, i can UPS you the tool and you can send it back when you're done
Ah.. the famous Torrington Bearing .,
I did some research and found that this bearing and a lot of other major manufactures are having there bearings manufactured in China.
I personally dont have anything against this fact as bearing manufacturing is a highly regulated industry .
I myself will be visiting my local bearing supplier to have them supply me with the BEST bearing available .
autozone does a free loan on the puller. I just use the old cam to tap the new bearing in place. Put the new bearing in the freezer overnight, and lube the case where it goes in. It will tap in easily. No need to "pound" it in.
some people acted like I didn't know what I talking about when I mentioned early Evo's had flat top pistons with no valve notches. I think they went to pistons with valve notches sometime in 85 or 86. My 85 FXWG had flat tops. I was trying to warn people with early Evo's that a "bolt in" cam may not be bolt in for them. Anything in the 90's is safe.
Ditto Spanners39.
The " Torrington " brand might be the best out there .?
I only suggest that a visit to your local bearing supplier might shed some light on a class of full compliment bearings that are better than the hallowed " Torrington " .?

Possibly...anything from Japan or Germany will be very high quality.
