Default Throttle/idle cable question

Who can tell me what year HD made the switch from throttle cables that screwed into the switch housing to the clip-in style. I'm updating my FXRD from a butterfly carb to a CV and need to find 32" screw-in cables that have the proper free length for the CV.

Thanks in advance for the help.

96 or 97, what size/length do you need. I just changed out my controls and cables, have a used but still good set laying around the garage.

Thanks. I did a little homework last night to answer the question myself. It is '96 that they went to the clip-in cables. Also worth noting for anyone who is switching from a Keihin Butterfly carb to a CV: The cables for a butterfly carb have 3 1/2" of free play and the cables for a CV have 5" of free play. So, when you switch carbs you need to find cables of the correct length from a bike between the years of 90-95 (CV Carb and old style switch housings).

Or do as I did and cut 1.5 inches of the outer cable off. You make a cut very carefully with a hacksaw....peel the plastic off and then unwind the spiral steel outer.....takes less time than it does to earn the money to buy new cables
