Just wondering if anyone has fitted T/C brake calipers on there Evo's?? I have a 97 RK and was looking to fit 2009 RK calipers as I found a smoking deal on them. Just not sure if it could work. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks Edster
I have done it 3 times, there is an adaptor bracket available on Ebay....ignore all the detailed stuff about centreing the calipers....they have 4 pots and will find their own centre.
It works better if you use the later master cyl too.
Clearance to your spokes can be real tight so shim to fit and be prepared to file the inside edge of the caliper a bit.
Once fitted and bled up, pump the lever until its hard and then tape it in the on position and leave overnight.....will save you tears trying to get the lever to feel right.

Thanks Spanners. You wouldn't know the seller on EBay for the adapter kit do you?
My fork seals were already leaking....forks had to come apart anyways.
I wanted the one inch sealed wheel bearings...
My original front wheel was beginning to look like crap anyways....
So, I went ahead and upgraded the front wheel, axle, and sliders from Twin Cam era. If I didn't have the already leaking forks...I probably would have used the adapters.
I did not have to change the master cylinder neither the brake lines.
Whatever used Twin Cam calipers you get...find out what DOT brake fluid was used. Up to around 2005/2006....Harley started using DOT4 in the brake systems. If you get the calipers that used DOT4.....flush like crazy. DOT4 and DOT5 do not mix. Plus, you don't really want DOT4 around a Harley....
You mentioned 2009......are you referring to the Brembo calipers?

Hey EVORider yes I believe they are Brembo calipers. I'm just waiting for the seller to confirm whether their Brembo or not. Do you know whether the Brembo will work or not? Thanks for your input.
Flush the new calipers with methylated spirits before using them as its nearly impossible to know if the PO used the right fluid in any case.
DOT 4 is fine on Harley's, they use it on the later bikes.....its nowhere near as corrosive as people will have you believe but the 5 doesn't absorb water over time.
Be aware that DOT 5.1 does NOT mix with DOT 5....no matter what your auto factor might say.

Brembo will work.....
Your 1997 brake rotor may or maynot work right. The Brembo rotor is much more larger. You will need all the lines and hardware too.
