Default I *hate* old wiring!!!

OK guys - I've got an '84 FXRT, and a few weeks ago, the turn signals quit flashing. (front signals are illuminated). Got to looking around, and the orange wire (w/a female spade connector) that goes from the flasher to the harness came disconnected at the harness.

Looking at the mess of splices under the radio, I'm not certain everything's still stock, but, assuming it is, where would the connector that the orange wire is supposed to plug into be hiding? I'm hoping to find it, pull a little slack and reconnect it w/out having to pull the fairing to be able to reach it.

Suggestion, humorous anecdotes, and well-written comments about my intelligence are all welcome.

Thanks y'all.

The orange wire on the directional flasher picks up it's power from the orange wire on the hazard flasher. At least on a FLHT.

I'll look on the wiring diagram when I get home. Gotta feeling the fairing's comin' off, but, trying hard not to right now.

Sounds like it's time for a new wiring harness!!!

At least that would take care of your extra splices..

I hear you on old wiring....I have an '83 Ford Ranger with lots of wiring. The wiring plus all the connectors are just brittle. I can't even tell what the color of some of the wiring is...

Yea....old wiring sucks.....
