Was the OEM blinker just fine? Can you reconnect, not install, and try again? If all is fine the I would suspectyoure correct.

with just the front hooked up it just lights up when i hit it also i just assumed that both front and rear had to be hooked up for it to blink and no go i read on here that you may have to have a load equalizer when going from a bulb to a led . but want to make sure befor i drop a hundo on something i dont know if i need or not

The answer is yes. Your TSM (turn signal module) operates (blinks) at a specific load (resistance) level. So because the LED's draw less amperage the TSM thinks you have a blown bulb. I had to add load equalizers (1) for each LED bulb.

Jeez for a c-note I would buy some resistors from radio shack and go from there.

Yes you need a load equalizer or as Tee&Vee said you can buy some resistors and trick the system. Badlands also have some units that will turn your bullets into turn/brake and yeah they range from 60-100 bucks or so from what I recall and might be plug and play for your model.
Cheers

I also used a Badlands module, when I fitted LED indicators. They work fine now, as Ranger explained.

what size resisters would i need and is there any danger in useing the resisters insted of the load equalizer. i think you can get the bandlandsII from jp for like 34 and kuryakyn makes one for around 25. but if the resistors would work id go that rout so i can get it fixed sooner

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can get one resistor large enough to give you the load you need. I think you need around 25 watts per light you replace. It has to equal the light you removed.
