Default hard start when cold

Ok I've got a 80 ci that starts hard when its cold. After warmed up it starts fine. I just drained the battery and couldn't get it to start, its 55 outside. I bought it used and I know the previous owner and he had Harley rebuild it then had work done after. It's got se 10 to 1 pistons, Andrews ev59 cam, and head work done to match cam ie valves, springs, keepers. Got a cv carb, kn air filter and bassani exhaust. Fuel system is tight, not sucking air. Havnt checked for intake leaks cause it runs good once its going. I'm wondering if its the cam. Any ideas would be appreciated.

No it is not the cam.

EVO's are notoriously cold natured.

What is your starting procedure?

When was the last time you changed spark plugs?

Just changed the plugs. I pull the enrichener out. Turn ignition wo lights on. Turn throttle a couple of times to squirt some fuel w accelerator pump then start. I don't turn the throttle much to keep the butterfly closed but find if I twist it a bit to use the accelerator while turning over it'll want to go. I also put the relay on for the coil

Has the bike always been this way or did it start doing it after you did something to it?

It's been this way since I got it. Previous owner said use race fuel, that's what he did. I'm not gonna do that. It had a screaming chicken ign module I replaced that with the daytona twin tec hoping it would help same results. He also said the heads might be shaved giving it higher compression than 10 to 1. I put a New battery in, it cranks strong

93 octane. I also took the carb apart and cleaned everything and blew air through the passages. Thanks for chiming in here I really appreciate it

I have an 85 FLTC running an S&S and I pull the choke about half way and hit the ignition button and she fires right up. If I give it full choke or pump it a couple times it does not want to fire up and I have also run down the battery. I beleive you just need to find the magic touch your bike likes and be consistant. EVO's are finicky like a lady and want things their way.
