Default Chasing a miss

After 7 1/2 years and about 50k miles, I'm getting a miss every now and then under load. I'm guessing the coil and the ignition sensor are both original, 25 years and over 100k miles. So I've ordered new plug wires and a new coil. Other than that I'm thinking of throwing a new pickup in there to. Anything else I should consider being the cause? It's never done this before now.
Maybe I can throw on a little miss about 18 or 19 y/o

I had a bad erratic miss way back and had finally got rid of it,
soon after, was chasing another miss, caught her 7 1/2 years ago.

Just the other day, I had my ignition cut out a few times and come right back on a few times(with a big backfire everytime it did it).

It was a break in the ground wire by the ring terminal for the ignition module.

That's why I'm thinking about replacing it and go through all the connections, that way I'll "know" it's good, barring the fact my new module could be bad right out the gate.

Mine would cut out completely for a few seconds, then start up again. I chased that one for years until finally it cut out and didn't restart. It was the wire going to the sensor in the cone. It was broken inside the insulation.

Yea, the wires going into the cone are ugly. So I'm thinking I'll just replace that. Anything to it? I've had the cone off a couple times, just put the sensor back where it was when I took it out. Will the new one just go back in where the old one was, or will it need to be timed?

I suggest at least checking the timing. It's easy (with a timing light.) You don't even need the clear plug, just leave it open and tolerate the oil mist.
