Default turn sigals

On my 85 FLTC you have to hold down the turn signal buttons to keep them on is there any changes I can make so they operate like the newer models? Thanks

Not really. The newer ones have a computer hooked up to the speedo and ignition, I think at least on the carbed bikes. Probably the ECU on the EFI ones.

There might be an aftermarket unit out now. I've seen one mentioned here in the past few weeks. If that could be hooke dup to an 85 or not, I dunno.

Call them up and see if they have something for your bike.

My 1990 bike still has the stock module, which could be retrofitted if still available, but Badlands have something that looks promising, as bluharley points out.

I replaced my stock module that used a tach reading to cancel the flashes and put a badlands unit in that flashes for 11 seconds and cancels automatically. The reason i replaced was the tach signal was lost and did not flash anymore. Plug and play unit. hooks up to stock connector and ziptied to the frame between tanks.

Thanks for the info all. Badlands has the module to resolve the issue and if anyone would like to make this change the P/N is ATS-03

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but, I have a 90 heritage and my other bike before this was an 06. I assumed something was wrong with the signal module and that was why they didn't cancel or stay on when I hit the signal. Is it just that they work as such and there isn't anything wrong? If so, duh

That's how mine are on my 88, a real PITA, like I don't have enough to do while slowing and turning. I don't know what year they introduced the self canceling, but it was way too late!

The stock indicator module is a black block about the size of a pack of cigarettes, so not easy to miss. On my 1990 Glide it is mounted (I just refitted it yesterday!) on the right fork leg, behind the headlamp housing. If you find one, yours is not working! However I don't think it was installed on every model in those days, so your bike may not have had one. It's part number is -89, so may have been introduced that model year.
