Ok so I'm a bit bored. Wife will need to do her full bikes road test, no idea whats it called in Canada but I know its the last one. Anyway here what they do is a fairly simple test and I don't think she will have any issues at all doing it on her 89 Heritage other than one issue and that is she has to where some kind of headphones or something so the guy doing the test can tell her which way to turn etc. She is running a fairly loud set of V&H pipes and she wears a half helmet. So for any of you folks that have done a test with the headphones can you actually hear the guy easily or what is the case?
I don't know why but for some reason I don't feel that I will get a response to this in our evo section.
Here in BC they have a radio with a mic/speaker extension that they clip to the front of your vest. I didn't have any trouble hearing the instructions. Also, I found the raod test much easier than the parking lot one. They just want to make sure you know the rules of the road and ride in the right lane positions.

That would make more sence doing it that way as there would be less distraction . I'm kind of surprised you can hear though even though its clipped to the vest they must give you to wear. Do you use half helmet?
They use a similar system here in the UK as well, although I have never studied it closely. Just tell your wife to listen to what she's being told for once!
I have ridden with my iPod and earbuds before and didn't have any problems hearing the music. It actually cancelled the bike noise out so much that I didn't like not hearing my bike and what was going on around me so I never rode like that again. I have skirt blower exhaust that are loud too!!

I always ride with Bluetooth earbuds in. I usually listen to music while I ride unless I'm in a group ride (MC) and then I don't even turn them on. I find my Brothers like to talk a lot at red lights.
I like my hearing and the D&D exhaust I have would most certainly cause an issue after some time.
