Remove the air filter and carefully hit it with a spray of starter fluid while cranking and see if it will run a few seconds. Follow instructions of can carefully.

its to see if there is an intake leak, i've had similar problems as you some being as simple as a bad new set of plugs to poorly connected electrical connectors...recently had found my crank position sensor to be dirty...keep looking you'll find it...tech 101, replace suspected parts with KNOWN good parts
good luck, its a bitch especially if u want to stay away from the stealer

Post 62 is is just to see if it's fuel related. Of course if it's flooding that will not help. However if it's flooding you ought to smell a lot of raw gas. It has to be at least running to do what Lefat is talking about and then you spray a little propane around manifold and see if it idles up to look for intake leaks.

A coil is a coil - the only difference will be the expected resistance values if you have a "hot" coil. The test procedure is the same.

10/4 for test for fuel now. You can also check to see if accelerator pump is squirting fuel when you twist the throttle prior to starter fluid test.

Yeah, you found the problem. For a while on the board here, it seemed like we had 1 a week of "my bike won't start...", "my bike dies after it warms up..." and they always had a Crane hi 4 in there. Then Crane went out of business. Replace that thing and you should be OK. I like the OEM system with a screaming eagle module, but the Ultima/Rev Tech, I think, are pretty popular too.
