so to start this off im assuming that im having a vr problem. coming home from a short trip I stopped and talked with a friend with the bike running and could smell a sulfurish sent. didn't think anything of it till later. got almost home and the bike started missing not able to keep rpms up head light went out came back dim, couldn't get up to speed. limped it home. got home dead batt. so im thinking that vr cooked the batt. im I on the right trac or any other input. btw 99 heritage

so I ended up getting a new bat. tested with full charge to start. had 16.8 at idle and went up to 18.9 at about 2500. stator didn't go to ground ohms was ok.
