Well, last year my speedo started jumping after about 20 miles. it will bounce about 20 mph faster then you are going up and down.
So I replaced the drive unit on front wheel first. tested it out, same thing. Replaced Speedometer cable, tested it out, same thing. Now this spring I put a new speedometer in it thinking there is nothing else it could be right?? Guess what, still doing it!
I have checked my odometer against my car and with mile markers and it is right on, but the damn speedometer is all over the place? Any idea's what could be wrong?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest it is the speedometer. Slight chance your cable has too sharp of a bend in it or needs some oil. Not the drive unit. They either work or they don't.
I use Dry Slide on mine. Load up a syringe and squirt it down the top until it drips out the bottom. Do pay attention to my comments on sharp bends in the cable, as that will do it too.
I will try oiling cable, hate to buy a new speedo, this one is brand new 300 miles ago. What oil do you suggest for the cable?
