Default Turn signals

Anyone know if there's anything that can be done to them to change how they cycle off . ie. stay on until a turn is completed, like the newer models. I find myself always having to hit the switch again as I'm approaching the stop. I don't believe I'm signaling too early for safety's sake, therefore, I'm always having to hit the switch a second time.

I disconnected the line from the speedometer. Now they stay on until I turn them off. Of course, now I have to remember to turn them off, or I end up driving for miles with my blinkers on, like some old person. Hey, I resemble that remark!

Be grateful! Me and some others here have to hold the button down as long as we want it flashing! I wish I had to "hit it" twice!

That's the way my '89 Sporty worked. Self cancellers arrived in '91, as I remember, but I agree, they always shut off too soon. I lost my self cancellers when I replaced my speedo with a '62-'67 style, which lacked the reed switch to turn the signals off after a certain distance is covered.

On my 94, when I "hold" it down for a couple of seconds, they stay on longer. If I just "hit" the button real quick, they're off in something like 100 yards.

I'm with you there brother! My 88 FLHTC is the same way. Squeezing the clutch, squeezing the brake, working the throttle...all the while holding the flasher down...a real PITA. But I love her anyway!
