If you fit the Badlands flasher unit part number ATC-03 your "push and hold" will become self-cancelling. Its also a load equaliser and can be used with LED flashers.

The instructions with the unit are no good for Dynas and Softies but I have the correct diagram that I can send anyone who wants to use one.

My diagram is for Dynas and Softies, FL instructions come with the kit but if you can't make head nor tail of them, here are the Dyna/Softie Sporty connections:

You might have two flasher units and the Badlands instructions cover that but you can bypass both of those units and wire as below.

Badlands Flasher Module Wiring Instructions for Evo and TC Dyna andSoftail up to 2000 and Evo Sportsters to 2000

Read fully before you start!!!

First locate your OEM flasher module, depending on the year and model of the bike it could be under the seat, under the tank-mounted speedo housing or behind the left hand side cover.

Cut off the stock plug where the original module connects with the bike’s wiring loom.

Connect the wires from the new module to the wiring loom as per the table below (Soldering and heat shrink is best).

If you don’t want to cut off the plug then just follow the wires back up the loom and connect into those wires with a scotch lock, crimped connector or solder.

Bike Loom.......................................... Badlands Module
Orange ...................................Red
Black.................................... .Black
White/Purple Stripe .................Purple
Purple ...................................Grey
White/Brown Stripe ............... Brown
Brown ..................................Yellow
White/Green Stripe ............... Ignore and tape

White/Green Stripe is speedo input and the Badlands module does not use speedo input.

Can't claim that it's better but it does have a few features that the OEM doesn't.

I bought it because of the touch and release turn signal and self-cancelling feature but the fact that it also gives you the ability to use your turn signals as emergency flashers made it a no brainer for me.

I don't get it my OEM one has all the features you are talking about.

I have an 85 Wide glide among others. Gotta hold the turn signal button for as long as you want the turn signals to flash ( without the module).

Was it like that from new or did the module wear out?

That's the way they came from the factory.
