If you are tall those controls are gonna be crampted, how is that seat?
Not sure what petcock you have on that year, if it's the type with a vacume line you can still get it from Harley, if it's the older style it is not servicable or available and you should just get a Pingle..
Welcome, and another vote here for swapping out the handlbars.....and the front wheel too. I think spokes look better on your model HD. Might want to consider a professional buffing on the paint flaws, don't take the chance of you yourself making them worse. And I too think you did good if she's mechanically sound....get it checked out...fresh fluids too. Oh, ya, don't jump on everything everyone on here says to add...you'll be broke in no time.
Congrats on the new ride! It's definitely worth the wait. I waited 19 years after selling my last Harley to get back in the saddle. Welcome to the sickness.
Nice bike and a good deal. Like the others said I would change all fluids, brake juice too. Check tire age. Keep the cast wheels. You have forward controls already if you learn how to heel shift and brake, the best of both worlds, the mids are good for trail riding, and just me but I have rode with buckhorns for 30 years and like them, they have been around forever for a reason. Good luck with your first Harley it could be your last cause you have one of the best bikes HD made in my opinion.
Congrats on a fantastic bike! You're gonna love that bike. Add a set of Ape's to it and our bikes could be twins!
My 97
Close cousins for sure. Mine has the tank mounted speedo/tach. Is yours a LR?

Thanks, I plan on keeping the wheels. I like the look of spokes, but not the maintenance that goes with them. I hear ya about the mids, but I feel really cramped on them. I changed my previous bike to fwds for the same reason. I think the buckhorns have good ergonomics, but they feel very awkward to me and I don't feel like I have a lot of control. JMO
