Either buy another OEM petcock or get a pingle. Trust me, I am as cheap as they come, the cheap ones do not work for long with todays fuels. Spend the 80 bucks, move on with your life and be safe..
Gee, change the oil... 4qts..no big deal. But I doubt it got into the engine. It has a drain tube vent I think in carb but guess it depends on how much your stand leans over. The vacuum petcock lasted 17 years...Get another Harley one so you do not need to remember to shut it off much less turn it on (guarantee you'll forget both ways) plus it is a lot safer. However, you still should make an effort to turn it off and on as a backup.

I think JP Cycle has them on sale now for around 12 buck, worth looking. Or just loose the vacuum feature as mentioned. I personally hate the vacuum petcock it's a real pita if you breakdown and have to remove the tank and I am used to shutting it off anyways.
when My 94 's went out I just order from drag specials about $26 bucks here in three days that was two years ago , so had money for gas & a few beers ,& also turn it off & on a non vac will leak through & /can get into crank case , so just change your oil & filter & ride into the sunset
My dealer said they had a "aftermarket" non vac for $22, and vacuum style for $35. I just ordered the JP mech one ($19) for now, might get a pingel down the road if I mod the motor up. FYI, I disassembled the stocker, flipped some parts around, and got it to work w/ no leaks. I wouldn't leave it that way but it can be done in a pinch.
