I've got a 93 FXSTS with the following modifications just done over the winter:
EV27 Cam
AN Big Sucker Air Cleaner
HD Screaming Eagle Ignition Module
Hooker Troublemakers Exhaust
Since the weather isn't cooperating enough to ride, I'm trying to determine baseline jet sizes/settings. That way, when the weather is nice, it will be rideable, and I can fine tune from there.
With the setup above, any suggestions on main jet and idle jet sizes to start out? Thanks in advance.
Thanks, that post appears to be for 96 and on, so I'm not sure if the settings for a 93 would be different. It also doesn't mention anything about a cam, so I'm thinking maybe I should start with at least a 185 main jet?I had a 180 in there already I believe.I still have the stock pilot jet, whichis a 42, so I guess I shouldstart by changing that to a 45?
Hey twowheels for once I might help ya..........on ebay there are a couple of guys who do the rebuild of the CV carb and they are using a 48 slow jet and 185 to 190 jet. They even trim the slide down to where it will open quicker. I have pretty much the same set up on my Fatty. I am suppose to get the EV27 cam today thru UPS and I can finally button this bayboy up. I may take my carb off and sent it to them to have it reworked
I don't believe the cam makes a difference in jet sizes too much unless you get into a radical cam. I have read a lot of articles about cams (stage II) and they only mention jetting as a stageI when you change the air cleaner and pipes. Start with the 185 main and the 45 slow, that should be a good starting point. I can't help you 100% because I have an S/S super G and it's a whole different animal.
Well that would make since. If I listen to these guys, they would try to sell me the Brooklyn Bridge to ride on Ha Ha. If it wasn't for twowheels and all the other guys input on this site helping me on my cam bearing I would have 200.00 worth of tools in my tool chest for a one time job. I read everything I can on this site to make me more aware of what I am doing and new ways taking care of my bike.
I'm runningsimilar to the same set-up on my 87 but with a EV-3 which is a bit longer duration. Ive been running a #50 on the low speed and a #180 on the high end also running torque cones the thing runs hard and Ive never had any problems with plugs.
