I carry the Stop and Go mushroom tire plug kit, but I am not sure it would be enough for that big of hole. Sure would be worth a try though. I plugged a nail hole in my rear tire 8,000 miles ago, and it is still going strong. I have 16,000 on it now and not much tread left, so will be changing it soon.
I don't think I have ever seen a bolt that big in a tire before.
Back about 20 years ago when I was working at Montgomery Wards Auto Center I was checking a flat tire for a customer and I found a railroad spike inside it. The hole in the tire wasn't that big and I remember thinking how did the spike get thru that tiny hole but the tire was still mounted on the rim. I still have that spike as it made a great punch/chisel over the years. Glad the OP is ok! Flat tires on bikes can be do right dangerous, I've had only 2 front tires go down while riding and luckily I survived.
Ye Gods, that looks big enough to have driven around - or did it ambush you?! Many years ago I picked up a large cut nail in my poor little BSA Bantam (similar to a Hummer), that went through both sides of the small rear tyre.
It usually is the rear, as the front disturbs the innocent passive poor nail/screw/bolt from its slumbers and it jumps up in panic, to be mown down mercilessly by that darned great rear tyre. My sympathies are turning in favour of the bolt....

Thank you for that description! I had a hilarious, cartoon-like visualization that accompanied it when I read it! Almost spit my cereal out, and GF thinks I'm crazy (nothing new)!
