WHAT BATTERY ARE YOU USING
I've owned a 1970 BMW R75/5 and a 1969 Triumph Bonneville (Lucas Electrics and all)....I've never had a battery go totally dead like it does on the Harley. Come to think of it, neither one of those bikes ever left me stranded on the road....

As for all the batteries in 14 years... 2 Odysseys would have would have lasted through that amount of time. They give you some warning before they go totally dead. Example: I got rid of the first one because it would not get a full charge. The bike took a few more cranks to get started so I check the battery voltage and it was, I think, 12.3 volts. I called Odyssey and told them how long I had it and they said it was time to replace it.
If you treat an EVO right it will not leave you stranded on the side of the road. Even if you get stuck, all you need is a simple tool set and maybe some Mcgyver type creativity...
And Bro...I do carry tools. I've got a 'dedicate' tool kit consisting of; all the open end, socket, allen, torx wrenches, along with wire cutters, tape, screwdrivers and plierseach and every time I take the bike more than a couple miles from the house. Trust me...I carry tools. And a cell phone along with my HOG/Road Americaand Bro'sClubcards.
And the batteries....Well, if you can get more than the two years of life I get outta mine...More power to ya Bro. The last one that died on the road was 27 month old...I knew that I should've replace it before I went on the trip...Butdamn, I keep thinking: Maybe, just maybe I'll get another year outta it.
I've tried it all:Float charger with battery in bike (I got a quick connect), remove batteryand float charge inside the house,and...Just plainleave it in the bike. Doesn't matter. When it decides todie...It aint gonna start or run. I've been stuck too many times because of batteryproblems,to even recall...Without looking at my reciepts that is...
And I do have reciepts for 'everything' that has been ever done to my FLHS in the 14 years I've owned it. Including all the oil changes (I change all three holes)done religiously at 2500 miles, the recommended service, tires, etc...So....I thinkI'vetreated my EVO a hell of a lot better than some of the stuff out there running around.
And damn to it's credit...It always died somewhere that was either safe of convenient ie: parking lot, or bar...Or the parking lot of a bar.
