Anyone running the Crane Cams Hi4E ignition on their bike ? Looking for any info good or bad .

 

Crane Makes a good adjustable ignition, for a while they had some bad boards and had problems but that is long behind them. They sold out and were shut down for retooling for a while but are back and looking better than before. For what it's worth Ultima also has a programable ignition that is less money. Just be sure that you have adequate clearance between your nose cone and your exhaust no matter which one you choose or you could have premature failure as none of them like a lot of heat!!!

we used them since they came out some time in the 90s - after Mr crane retired the quality was shakie and they than went out of Buzz - S&S bought the rights to the ignition systems i had issues with 2 since than and they wont take them back // and no longer make the only one that worked - the Hi4E

 

I had one fail on me but it was 10+ years ago. I now run the Ultima nosecone unit as i like the fact that its a Dyna rebadged and that i can plug it into my laptop to program up every little feature to my hearts content. (Just stay away from Ultima coils as they are total chit - you get one with the kit sometimes and the best thing to do is just bin it.)

 

Guess i should also ask if there is a better external adjustable ignition system . I would like to stay away from the internal because my thunderheader wraps around my nose cone and gets pretty hot when in slow moving traffic.
