Yeah I have to agree. He's been telling me he's going to sell it for a couple of years now. He's a chef and works crazy hours and just had his third kid a month ago.
I just hate seeing his bike just sitting there neglected in the garage every time he opens his garage right across the street. He used to baby that bike only a few years ago. He got the HD fever after I came home with my WG back in '05 and went out and bought this Fatboy a couple of months later. I took him under my wing for awhile to learn the basics of the road and how to ride. He was really into it for a couple of years then got remarried, got a new job and had another kid and has completely lost interest.
So I threw out an offer that if he was crazy enough to accept it, I would be willing to pick up a second bike. I was wanting to upgrade to a set of Agitators on my Street Glide but having a '96 Fatboy instead of new wheels is an opportunity I can't pass up!
It's a bike I will enjoy tinkering on in the garage. And now I will have a potato-potato bike! My GF has been wanting to start riding herself and wants to take the MSF course. She's got her eyes on a Softtail Slim or a Street Bob. This bike is almost a Slim already. She can ride this one for awhile and can upgrade to the one she wants later if she chooses.
For 3k and maybe another K for maintenance, battery and repair....I can actually afford a second bike. Actually....how could I afford not to?
No the moral of the story here is to hope your neighbor gets married, gets a new job, and has babies so that you can get his bike cheep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have a winner!! I guess if he's wanting to unload it and free up some garage space for what I offered, it might as well join my stable. Plus if he ever wants to join in on a ride or take it out he will always be welcome to ride it.
I've been looking for an EVO....whats his phone number? From what I've seen around central Fl. $6500-$7500 and then there are some dreamers out there . I would feel guilty getting it for $3K
