I am looking to upgrade the head lamp on my 97' EG and I am confused on head lamp buckets. My 97' has a sealed beam H4 head lamp bulb and the bucket has a round hole in the center.
If I understand correctly, I need a 2000' and newer head lamp bucket with the oblong center hole if I want to run any of these lamps.
Oh, so the Truck-Lite lamp fit in your stock head lamp bucket. Cool. I assume you replaced the trim ring as I read that the Truck-Lite lens is thicker and sticks out of the stock trim ring.
I'm chiming in so I can follow. I also want to be rid of my sealed beam bulb, but I don't need the trucklite expense. Looking for Halogen module (Like a 9005...) with the lens assembly.

Thanks, G.B.
Yeah, the Truck-Lite fits any 7"bucket and has the H4 connector making it 100% plug & play. It's an outstanding headlamp and I put them in both bikes since I do so much night riding. I got the last one on eBay for $195 shipped. Well worth it IMO.
But yes, they do protrude 1/4" to 3/8"past your trim ring. A french ring cures that issue as you see in the last picture below.
Thanks Panhead for the clarifiction and the pictures. I was on the fence with what head lamp I was going to upgrade too and I think you sold me on the LED. Sweet springer by the way. Love the metal flake.

You'll love it. Some of my buds are running the spot lamps as well and that's some SERIOUS lighting.
