Having issues with my Evo and am tired of "chasing my tale". I got an opportunity on a Revtech 100" or an S&S 80" both are same price, but S&S doesn't come with electronics or carb.
My question is will my '89 be able to deal with the added horse and torque of the 100"?
Thanks in advance
I've got an S&S 107" in my 1990 FLHS, with 100+ HP/TQ! In essence, yes your bike will cope just fine. I replaced all the engine rubber mounts and added a beefier clutch spring (Barnett), also replaced the compensator and primary chain (the teeth had gone sharp, ie worn). An S&S 96" or 111" can be had with carb and electronics, plus up to 3 years warranty, as mine did. No I didn't need it (engine new in 2008).
we could use a evo core in the shop i would be interested in buying the old motor and dont care what the issue is - PM me when you replace it your only about an hour from me in jersey - johnjzjz

Thanks for the info. Yea I know they also have complete motors but I have a new single fire in mine so I figured I would go without them and just use mine n save 1000$. Plus my parts guy is going to sell me a new S&S carb at cost if I buy the motor
Put a S&S 124 in my 1989 FLHTC. In my case I updated the clutch to a Bandit and switched to chain final drive. No problems with frame, suspension, etc.
You may have to run a heaver clutch spring as grbrown noted.
89 cases had some problems, especially the race facing the primary had a tendency to walk in some of them and caused the oil to get sucked into the primary, no sense building that block ( as an owner of an 89 , I hated that weakness).
IMHO - I'd take the S&S over the Revtech any day and twice on sunday. The search engine is your friend, see how many issues rev techs have had over the years. The S&S product line is light years ahead in quality, parts availabilty and service.
