Thanks to Howard at Motorcyclemetal I have gotten rid of my oem air shocks! I went with a set of 13" JRI "A" shocks. The oem shocks were mounted with a lowering bracket but with the JRI's I was able to put them back in the stock location. After the sag was set I still have the lowered ride height. I've only gotten in a 50 mile test ride so far but they are a definite improvement!
Good thing you removed the lowering kit, they can lead to cracked swingarms. Congrats on the new shocks....... almost anything is an improvement over the oem POSs.
Well done - a man of taste! These things are dirt cheap. Mrs B and I have NEVER bottomed out and enjoy the most remarkable ride quality. I strongly recommend trying either Howard's Ohlins or his JRI shocks - there is no better way to travel! My Ohlins #3-3, from pre-JRI days, note the similarities:
That's a tease! I bought mine several years ago, so what I paid won't mean much. Other HDF members assure us that Howard gives a generous discount on his website prices, so take a look at his website, at: http://www.motorcyclemetal.com/
When you've recovered your breath, bear in mind that these shocks provide us Harley owners with a ride quality we have every right to expect from the MoCo, but have only dreamed about. I can expand on that!
