Helmet? Most of the time my non-DOT 1/2 lid during the heat of summer. 1/2 lid with zip in ear muffs in the spring/fall. Full face helmets just don't feel right.
I wear as little of a helmet as I can get away with. At bike week no helmet. In NC there's a law so, I wear a brain bucket. When it's 30 degrees or less I wear a full face. I totally realize that riding without a helmet is risky. On the way to MB Bike Week I stop at the state line and toss that sucker in the trunk. When I lived in SC I rarely even took the helmet out of the house. That was 1981 - 1985. It's like a good steak. Once you've tried it it's hard to go back to eating bologna.
I almost never wear the full face. Went on a PGR mission up in the mountains a couple of weeks ago. As the sun set it got really cold. I switched out the brain bucket for the full face. It was really hard to get used to. I felt like my equalibrium was off. Made the first few miles of riding kinda weird. But, it's warm so..
I didn't wear a helmet for many years until I had to wear one while riding through helmet-law states. When I got home my wife confronted me and said "I know you are going to fight me on this, but I'd really like you to wear a helmet" I said, no problem. She was floored. I got used to it pretty quickly on a road trip, albeit a non DOT polo helmet. I bought DOT stickers off ebay and they look legit, even through the mandatory states. Obviously any police officer would know instantly if he wanted to bust me but it makes mama feel better and at this point it doesn't bother me. Full face helmets I don't think I could do. I thought those things were for snowmobiling!
Seems like a cool concept except too many distractions. I am answering the phone getting questions about where am I while looking in the rear camera. I don't think so.
I haven't worn a helmet in years, moved to SW Florida and started wearing one for some reason, 1/2 helmet. Noticed on my way back from Daytona that it seemed like every driver I passed or passed me was on the cell phone. That's the issue not the helmet in my opinion. Didn't mean to hijack op.
I love these things! If I had one I'd wear it 24/7. To work, to the store, in the shower, etc etc etc (not to the bank, they might get a might twitchy over folks in full face helmets)
I wear a Half helmet....the FF are just too confining for me and nothing beats being hit in face by a bee at 80mph !!! I always wear my jacket and gloves though, I've come off once at only 35mph wearing a T Shirt and no jacket...never again.
Sure, I wear a helmet. Its a law in my state but I'd wear one regardless. Usually a 1/2 beanie, feel uncomfortable without some kind of protection on my noggin. To each his own.
First, I can't wear a full face for numerous reasons. Too confining, too heavy, reduced line of sight, difficulty getting all my hair in, etc., etc., etc.,
Second, that is way too distracting to be safe IMO.
No thanks, I'll stick to experience, safety habits and hair liberating lighter half helmet
