As for the great metric debate, the US Government passed a metrication law back in 1975, they just forgot to say when they would enforce it! It is happening anyway, through the back-door.
Oddly enough that is how our government enforces most of our laws, through our back door!
If your not worried about the mileage change ect, just get a new/used one. If you are, you might be able to fix the problem. I hope it doesn't happen to mine, that's how I gauge my fuel also. Maybe look for an after market fuel gauge.
I already have the metric and whitworth tools from working on jap bikes and Nortons....
Ah, Whitworth! Not only did Joseph give us the World's first standardised thread system, but invented how to measure to one millionth of an inch, also how to produce truly flat surfaces. Things which every Harley depends upon...... He also made rifling in guns work too.
My AF tools, that I have used on my Harleys since the 1970s, I originally bought during the 1960s, when the British bike industry started going American, would you believe?
Then we saw sense and went Metric instead.
So I have three sets of tools - best to be well prepared.
Strangely enough we have had lengthy discussions on HDF about installing metric speedos for members overseas. It should be a lot easier to find a miles one, possibly even new..
very easy have a nos flht dash assembly I bought years ago but never used - nobody wants them, listed it on ebeay for a month or so and zero interest
