Default Metric speedo

I bought this bike with a metric speedometer. It really isn't that hard to do the math in my head to gauge my speed, but I am considering swapping it out because the trip odometer reset gear is stripped out. It's kind of an interesting conversation piece and adds to the unique-ness of the bike, but it makes it tough to gauge my fuel consumption. Any thoughts?

Just get a stock one from Harley.
That is what I would do.

Replace the reset **** for about $10 if that is the problem or
not that expensive to replace the unit with a new/used.

It is nice to see the speedo go over the 200 mark though!..Something you will never see with an imperial unit.

I'm used to it. I fly an EC-135 helicopter for a living. Other than airspeed and altitude, everything else is metric. Even though the fuel gauge is in KG, it still indicates F and E. I have been window shopping for an imperial gauge online and it looks like fit and function will be the only obstacles. Since the odometer indicates KM, the bill of sale incorrectly indicates that same value as MILES. I guess millage on a used speedo really doesn't make any difference.

Strangely enough we have had lengthy discussions on HDF about installing metric speedos for members overseas. It should be a lot easier to find a miles one, possibly even new. If you are not familiar with them, there are several on-line parts websites, where you can identify the correct part number. I use this one.

As for the great metric debate, the US Government passed a metrication law back in 1975, they just forgot to say when they would enforce it! It is happening anyway, through the back-door.
