Default Side-cover Molding

O.K. it's just a minor item, but I've just wrestled with my oil bag/Right side-cover and replacement molding, and before I commit I'm seeking advice.

The molding arrives all coiled up in a bag, so I decided to do a test run to verify correct fit before doing anything to bond it on.

Since I run my vehicles until the wheels fall off I've replaced auto moldings many times over the years. This was a bi-otch!

Right now it is in place with the blue painters tape holding it down, hopefully so it will take a new set shape.
I'm thinking about putting some mild heat to it to see if it can be made to re-conform to the intended shape, and since it slips off so easily I'd like to apply some sort of adhesive/silicone seal to the interior cup to keep it on.

Any advice?

Thanks.

I don't have experience with that particular installation, but generally heat will help to shape it and I'd use 3m weatherstrip adhesive (get it in black) to keep it in place.

I heat relaxed the trim and blue taped it in place with a bit of black PERMATEX gasket in a tube that I had. Needed 4 hands but it came out great.

Thanks.
