Sometimes a couple hours. I uses a wet / dry vac to suck out the water and then leave it out in the sun to finish drying.

I don't have any washable filters as I write (just bought one for Buttercup, it's in the post!), but I used to leave them in a warm place overnight.

I leave my cleaned air filter in a warm place on top of a small desk fan to circulate air through it. It will be dry by morning.

The OP wasn't asking this question, but I will. How often should it be cleaned?

I clean mine at the beginning of each riding season. May depend on the area you live in. Maybe more, maybe less. You need to determine this. But where I am, once a season works fine.

There are two answers to that: as per instructions included; or at stock cleaning intervals. In the absence of the first, use the second! My Buell one is due Monday, so I'll check what I get told with that.

Thanks. Sounds like I'd better clean mine!

I wash my air filter every 5,000 miles when I do the service. I do it first thing so it can be drying while I'm doing everything else. Mine is the K&N cleanable one.

And don't use hot water or heat to dry...it can shrink the cotton fillter material (think of what happens to a pair of jeans tossed in the dryer on high-yikes). YD
