"how is that a hardtail? It's a softail frame. Did the previous owner remove the under tranny shocks and put struts in there?"

Yup....stock softail frame with shocks removed and homemade struts and a couple of light welds attaching the swingarm and frame.

Shouldn't take much to return back to stock if desired. Will ride it this year and decide when I tear it down this winter to take care of the leaks if I want to take it back to stock.

Brake light fixed....ignition switch ordered...gonna rain all week and likely weekend. Hope to get the "need to fix" list whittled down..

Thanks all!

You do know that the key locks the switch...if it is unlocked...you do not need a key to operate it.

Currently have no key....want to be able to at least lock the ignition switch.

Sorry...fell back to terms for my twinkie....Primary chain inspection cover and gearcase outer cover. Previous owner had them engraved.

Sorry and thanks!

Latest twist. Took to courthouse to plate. Because going from Iowa to NE they have to "inspect" the bike. Basically validate the VIN number with the title. Steering head welds were smoothed out which covered the VIN number. VIN sticker on the downtube was removed for repainting the frame. Courthouse wont accept the partial on the engine.

Glad I bought it from my daughters boyfriend...gonna have to have him apply for a custom frame title in Iowa before I can plate in Nebraska.

Nothing is ever easy.....
