Question Posh Modern Tourpak Hinges

Chaps,

Now you're a knowledgeable bunch. I have a 1987 (Statue of Liberty Centenary Edition) tourpak on my bike. The hinges and latches are past their best and I have just discovered that our favourite MoCo has some swish Premium replacement hinges, #79211-08A. The only problem is that they are listed for tourpaks from 1988-on. The illustrations in the parts book look identical, but the part numbers are different.

Anyone know a good reason why the posh new hinges won't fit, by any chance? What did the sneaky perishers change between '87 and '88?

And what are the chances of installing a later set of latches?

Graham, would some pix help? I have a Twinkie riding pal that had a tour pack and his bike is a 2001. Not too new, is it?

I just saw them being installed on a 2014 Ultra yesterday. They look nice, look more sturdy.I know the NEW tourpak has a lip on the outside on the lid where the new hinges sit. I don't think ours (evo models) have that lip. As for the changes made in the 80s, I have no clue.

By chance I seem to have found the answer to my query, in a new thread here. A member with an even older tourpak than mine has successfully upgraded his with recent latches and hinges, so in I go! Premium set of both ordered. More news later.

Graham,

As you have found out they will bolt right up. I have the older style tour pak with the three compartments in the front like you. I upgraded the hinges and the latches. A definite improvement.
