But we are hearing speculation and rumor that the "new" hinges are being pulled off the market, leading us to wonder what is wrong with the new ones now?
And to put all the rumors to rest, just because a part status is listed as pending obsolete it doesn't mean that it is going to be discontinued. The +3 clutch cables for TLE models are all listed as pending obsolete and have been for a long time. Even my 38649-08 cable is pending obsolete. It just means that it will have a running upgrade change and be a -08A pn# I'm rendering a guess that they are planning on a running change on the hinges so that they will accommodate chopped tour paks. The MOCO parts manager in Milwaukee advised me that at the last minute they found a problem with them on chopped tour paks and that is why the top of the listing states it is an upgrade for the king or chopped tour pak, but in the fitment section it states does not fit chopped tour paks.
They are still listed under New Products on the HD Site and the local dealer says they are ordering more of them. They do look better than the cheap stock ones.
iv seen many a post on these new tour pack hinges..question is...whats going wrong with the original hinges that they came out with an up-grade?
So they can sell us a replacement for $46 that does the same thing the OEM strap hinge does, of course. I'm waiting to see if the new hinges will find their way to the 2010 models generally, or CVO models.
I've had my new hinges for about a month; just need to get the TP painted to install them.
