Fresh battery. 85 FXWG. No noise or any other response when I hit the starter button. Put jumpers across the solenoid, it spins but does not engage the engine. I need help please.
You might need a new starter relay.
Do you have voltage to the starter when you hit the switch?
How are your connections at your ignition switch?
Do your lights come on when you turn on the switch?
Battery terminals tight?
Any corrosion on the battery terminals?
Could be:
Buggered circuit breaker in the Ign side not powering the starter relay
Starter relay not getting power or loose connection on it
Sounds like the starter relay is not getting power so start there. If the relay was getting volts and working it would trigger the starter solinoid and you would hear that throwing into place; plus that triggers the starter motor so they are all linked one after the other.
My Ultima ignition module is sparking off the housing as well as my foot peg 😞 im new and lost as to the cause I've tracked it to my grey wire I've looked for bare wire and potential shorts and found nothing. I believe it's got to do with my kill switch it's the only thing I can come up with. On the side of the run switch where the wires are saudered the black and white wires plus sauder spin free I believe they should be solid. If anyone has helpful insight it would be much appreciated.

Is it sparking like shorted wire or like a spark plug? There is no grey wire on that ignition, look again.
Wires colors are:
white, pink, blue, violet, green
Years ago when my 94 did the same thing... I installed a button on the end of the solenoid to bypass everything. It was later that I found corrosion down in some of the electrical connections for the start system. Now all is good staring from the start button on the bars.
