Need a little help with the direction of this little coupling, manual shows "counterbore" towards out..... Is that the side that's recessed inside? Starter help-image-3102214518.jpg
Starter help-image-3114072634.jpg This way out?

You know I have never looked at that when I had to take out my starter.
I just tossed the piece in.
Either I got lucky or it doesn't really matter as I have had no problems yet.

As for counter bore that is your first picture.
The second is tapered.

Ok..... I'm gonna take the average of one answer and throw it on in! Lol

The clutch and drive were sooooo stripped, I'm still amazed it still started when it did!

Note to self, my foot wasn't strong enough to hold it down while trying to test run the starter on the garage floor, that bitch hopped around like a dog with hot water thrown on it!
