Default Problem with choke not staying on

So my 97 Dyna's choke will not stay on. I have to sit on the bike and hold it till it warms up. Any ideas? New cable needed or something else?

Oh yeah, is your guys Evos cold blooded like mine is? Seems to take a while to fully warm up. Just curious. Thanks in advance.

On the choke cable, just behind the ****,is a round black plastic 'nut' which is the tensioner for the cable.Turn it clockwise to add tension. They usually won't stay out,but creep back in slowly.

it is possable to adjust the tenshion on the choke pull but caution the nut holding the plastic assembly is weak and tends to brake the choke end if you make it to tight

losse the nut turn the outer plastic end, the choke pull rests against clockwise and that tightens the hold of the pull rod --

I used a clothes peg to hold the choke open on my Ironhead....

Hit it with a hammer... ok no don't do that

Put blue loctite on the threads... it helps... for a while.

Mine was the same. Kept tightening it, snapped the nut. It's a pain to replace you have to pull the carb to twist it sideways at the least or remove it. I have it fixed but it hates to run on just enricher half the time so I just use the throttle lock. You might want to try that. Seems to work better for me. I pull it out, start it then shut it and set the lock

Yep, the less time you spend on the enrichener the better. Is your bike stock? You could fatten up the idle mixture if you havent already. These bikes are lean from the factory per EPA mandates.

Use the enrichener to start and warm up high idle with the throttle lock on

I only use the choke to start it or carbon likes to build up. I just hold the throttle for a minute.
