Noticed that the sight glass for the front MC was not dark today. Brakes done about 6,000 miles ago. Took the cover off, and the fluid was typical for that amount of miles. Just to check I topped it off, but it is still cloudy. Bike has 31,000 miles on it. Brakes function properly, and not spongy at all. Does this happen over time or is there something else that I should be looking at?
Every one of my bike I never been able to see in the sight glass it look almost black
It is supposed to be black if the fluid level is correct. It will lighten up if the level gets too low.
It is not weeping, just cloudy. A small thing, but i like keeping the bike looking well. I see that there are replacements for it. Anyone know how it is fastened in there? Screwed in? Pressed in? Silicone or other adhesive?
The lens is probably becoming dull from age and UV exposure. I'd try a dab of Novus plastic polish on a cloth and see if that helps. If it's surface aging, that will take care of it.
I've never had mine apart, but I suspect it's held in/sealed by the rubber grommet.
