Thanks for the info..The HD manual does not really show you very clearly.I guess I'm going to have to find someone with the smae motor and take a look.

hell bros.

my question on my 1984 evo front and rear brake master cylinder had i guess dot 3. i went to shop and had brakes replaced. now bike wont stop looked at my brake fluid ,its purple how do flush system . scarry trying to stop and brakes dont work . luckly no cars at intersection last night . please need help thanks guys

Should have DOT 5 in that 84. It' weird that they switched to the paint eating DOT 4 for the newer bikes

wheel bearings on a 98 EVO are not sealed. I think HD went to sealed bearings in about 2001 (certainly with the advent of the twinkie). IIRC the torque for the rear axle is 60-65 ftlbs but I can't quite remember the front (think it is about 45 ftlbs). Whenever you grease your wheel bearings you should check the end float and you will have to replace your wheel bearing seals.
Belt Tension - use the correct tool. In a pinch you can get someone about your weight to sit on the bike and then grasp the belt on the top strand as close to the primary as you can get it and then twist it. You should get about 45 degree deflection. Any more and the belt is probably too loose. Any less and it is probably too tight. However, I stress that this is no substitute for the correct tool if you are not that experienced with the feel.

Wait for the manual - it will be worth it.
