I still remember the ride on a red 1984 FXRT shortly after they came out. A friend got a sales job at the local Harley dealer and told me to come on over and I could ride it as long as I wanted. Didn't get to ride it that long, if money hadn't been a little tight at the time, I'd have taken it home. Big improvement over the shovels and pans I'd ridden before, though they'd probably have been better in that rubber mount frame with a belt. First Harley I truly wanted. Ever run across an 80's FXRT for the right price when my garage ain't already full (it's stuffed right now, gotta get rid of 3 or 4 bikes), and I'd still want it. There's one for sale in Minnesota with an S&S engine and Baker transmission, looks cherry. But I don't have 10 grand set aside for one right now...

Ah yes, the Evo - rode my first one at Daytona in March 1985. Took me a while before I could afford my own - and Hyacyith was born.
