If you're a AAA member, you can do the whole VIN verification thing at the AAA office. I did it with my FXR that I bought in Texas. No line...in and out of there in about 15 min.
Hmmm, I just bought my FXR out of Indiana this past April. AAA said they couldn't do the VIN inspection for me. I had to get it inspected by DMV. So either they stopped allowing AAA to do the inspections, or I got wrong information from them again.
When or if I do swap the motor, I'll certainly call and ask. Anything beats dealing with CA DMV.
BTW, your FXR is looking great! Be on the road soon?

Yeah, I don't know what to say there. I personally had the VIN verification done at the AAA office in San Diego (on Hotel Circle). This was back in 2011, so maybe they only allow it at certain offices, or they stopped doing it all together?

Real soon. I could actually ride it now, but I'm waiting for some parts on the speedo/tach setup. I want to accurately track my miles, and monitor my revs carefully during the break in process.
Dayummm Rich,
Two Evos
An on the way S&S
And a '48 Panhead in the workshop... if I move to Cali, can we be friends?

Tom

Sweet, I'll bet you're stoked. Hopefully you'll post a bunch of pics. That thing's looking great!
This is crazy, I just got a quote from the dealer a week ago to do the reman program.
I was on the fence though since they quoted me $1200 bucks in labor....and you HAD to have them pull the engine to get the warranty. $4g's for the evo reman vs. about the same for a beefed up S&S. Guess that decision was made for me!
I also think that Ultima has a pretty good reman program for EVO's, I think they charge $2g's to do the whole thing.
You wouldn't believe how many times I've had Texas and Louisiana check every serial number on my bike. For this very reason I carry my S&S MSO papers.
Yep ... and it's been that way since way back in the day ... many hard nosed cops will hook one up and drag it in until all the paperwork jives ... been there and done that. tmanbuckhunter hasn't had the pleasure yet.
