Default factory engine rebuild

Hi. Has anyone sent their engine back to the factory for a rebuild? I have a 2003 Ultra with 80,000 miles on it and I was wondering in the rebuild program is worth the effort and cost.

Thanks
Bob

It's great if you're really ready for a major rebuild. At 80,000 miles, you're jumping the gun unless there's something really wrong with your bike.

My buddy was over 100k and just did it. He said it feels and looks like a brand new engine, everything was nice and tight. Pretty much just buying a new motor. That is the way i will go when its time

I replaced the 80 CI EVO in my buddy's Softail with a factory "reman". We got the engine back in three weeks and every part was new. heads, barrels, cases, lifter blocks, push rod tubes, fsasteners, all new.. We even took the chrome oil filter block off before sending it and it came with a new black one.

I know that all they did was take a compete engine off the shelf, stamp it with his engine numbers and ship it.

It was a good deal.

The guy I got my RK from put one it. It looks and runs fine but it is still just stock. If I was doing a rebuild it sure wouldn't be stock!

Prices are on the factory website. Go to the 'Owners' tab, then 'Engines'.

If you have a tuned engine or any non-stock parts like cams, you will only get back a bone stock engine. It's well worth asking around locally, or one of the HDF sponsors who rebuild engines, for their pricing, as you could alternatively have your own engine rebuilt as a fire-breathing monster!

The dealer doesn't do it , the factory does. Dealer just removes from bike and ships it to the factory. My friend did it on his 2002 and it literally looked brand new and it runs great . He had it done two years ago. Here is the link
