I love my old-school, simple, carbed EVO's. That's the main reason the Twin Cams don't personally appeal to me. IMO, the carbed EVO's are the last of the "traditional" Harley Davidson's, that I've been riding all my life. So my vote goes for Carbed as well.

Default Carb.

My vote goes with the carb also When I bought my Road King in 05 I made sure I found one that was carb'd and I have never regretted it.

If all other things are equal, I'm also picking the carb. A Delphi Twinkie would have me going the other way.

So the carb is sold.
What's your thought on a 1997 (carb) with 80,000 miles for $5,500?

Let me say this, it made it to 80000 miles. I would have to guess that it had been maintained and most of its rubbers swapped out for newbies.
Offer something less but not insulting and let the seller come back to you in a week when his phone don't ring. You got cash and are a serious buyer.

That will be close to $7,500 after you change to a carb.
