Here's a link to one of the threads I read, there were a few others, just can't find them now.

You have me interested now. I think I'm going to pick one up, are you going to buy the one with the same harness or wire this one up?
What buell fits or are they the same as the sportster?

What model number and curve are marked on the sporty module? I'm looking at these now for mine, you got me thinking. 32466-95A is what I come up with for later style but that's 8 pin different from yours right?
Also here's a link for you

For anyone interested. The Q curve 32633-96 screaming eagle module that you can't get anymore for evo is the same as the 32465-95A with a 6200 rpm instead of the 6800 SE. There's a 32680-96Y that's the same as well but has the 6800 rpm but haven't looked at availability. All 8 pin. Here's the M you have too
I run a SE module with no rev limiter myself. I've heard people suggest the sporty module. Seems like you didn't get the "as long as the connectors are the same" part.
It looks like the MoCo changed the ignition pickup in '96. While it may be possible to wire the new one up to the old system, I'm going to suggest finding one that just plugs in. I think it will give you less trouble in the long run.
If you want to experiment, it looks like the VOES goes to pins 6 and 7, pin 1 is power (switched +12V), pin 4 is the coil negative, pins 2,3 and 5 go to the pickup, although I can't find what goes to what there. The colors may or may not be the same as the 7 pin version. Pin 8 is not connected.

That helps, I'll look at my wiring diagram and see if I can match the wires up since some are a different color.
I haven't decided what I'm gonna do yet. I probably will buy an adapter and plug it all in and see if sparks fly...!
wiring it up should be easiy. If not I think this is the one you need but you should be able to get it wired up quickly.

That looks like the one that would work, I don't think it was listed at the time.
Wire diagram helps...thanks
Good luck man, let us know how it works out. I just ordered mine this morning. I tried to find others for you, but that was the only one I could find based on the chart. You could just order the harness adapter and save a couple bucks
Edit....I think the harness won't work either as the male female are reversed.
