Hi everyone I was hoping that I can get some help. I have a 1990 fltcu that went threw hurricane sandy and the electrical demons are kicking my a#@. Sometimes she wont start(no power to the fairing)I can grab the wires going to it and its good to go. I took out the speedo cleaned all the connectors now when I turn the bars to full lock bam no power to the fairing. As soon as I move them power returns. what's the best way to track the problem down? Also under the fairing there was a blue wire with a white stripe not connected to anything but does have a eye on the end could not find it on the sceamatics anywhere. any light you can shed would be a big help.
I was hoping that I would not have to yank the fairing and tank but I cant be riding and have her cut out. The salt water is a slow and silent killer I get one thing taken care of and another rears its ugly head. thank you for your help.

I also have aquiered a 1990 and have found the wiring to be toast in the same area as yours .
Pay particular attension to the harness that flexes as you move the bars from left to right .
I suggest you cut out this harness at the pivot point and replace all the wiring
in this harness.
You will be be making a lot of connections so be sure you know how to do it properly.
Let me know if you need help with this.
Thanks to all This weekend I'm going to yank the fairing and redo the wiring going under the speedo. I don't believe in the crimp on terminals my first Harley an old iron head sportster was loaded with them and drove me crazy. As for the salt in the frame I spent 6 hours with a power washer and 2 gallons of wd40 cleaning every nook then spraying it down with wd40. I will also go threw the fairing and do the headlight upgrade with the 2 relay trick I read on the sight. Again thanks to all.
